What is Internal Tooth Bleaching?
Internal tooth bleaching is a teeth whitening technique that works from within the tooth, unlike traditional whitening methods that target only the external surfaces. While conventional whitening uses trays or topical treatments, internal bleaching addresses discoloration inside the tooth itself. This method can produce a brighter smile, especially for people with otherwise healthy teeth.
What to Expect
Preparation
Once Dr. Gol confirms that the tooth would benefit from internal bleaching and a new shade is selected, he will remove any material (if any) and place a barrier to protect the root.
Application
An oxidizing agent such as sodium perborate or hydrogen peroxide is then placed in the tooth’s hollow chamber. Dr. Gol will monitor the procedure at specific intervals, repeating the application of additional bleaching agent as needed.
Completion
Once the patient’s whitening goal has been reached, Dr. Gol will permanently seal the tooth. Some patients may need more than one visit to achieve the desired results.
